For Children at Risk...

It’s Toy Time!

Charities in the U.S. provide gift boxes for our “Response of the Heart” to share with children all over Belarus.

(Your support for New Thing enables our team to bring the boxes into the country.)

New Thing co-founder Kristina Brendel and daughter Lydia Charlotte had a joy of delivering gifts to children in the after-school “Domik,” or “little house,” in the town of Zhodino.

Lydia Danielevna of our “Response of the Heart” team led the expedition.

She could be retired and relaxing in her flat, but she is passionate about helping the children of Belarus.

No two gift boxes are exactly alike. It’s always fun to see the kids making their discoveries. Then it’s “Wanna trade?”

These children have been officially assessed as “at risk” because of issues in their homes.

But in the “Domik” program, director Julia (at left) and her (camera-shy) professional staff connect with the families and work to resolve issues before a crisis occurs.

This was the first after-school program of its type in the entire country.

It’s been so successful, the model has been replicated in other Belarusian towns.
