is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union
Curious about where NewThing.net came from?
A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...
A child in the hospital...
Your love is there for them!
Here in Shumilina (say shoe-ME-lean-uh), 25 miles from Russia, the goal is to get children healthy, and keep them that way.
(You can see our original photo report from the hospital here.)
Every bed and bedside cabinet in the childrenÕs wing of this enormous hospital was a gift from generous friends of New Thing.
WhatÕs better than a brand-new hospital bed? An empty brand-new hospital bed.
(WeÕve seen this childrenÕs ward full to overflowing.)
Constantin, the jovial hospital director, has been a friend of New Thing for years.
He and his dedicated staff care for children and adults from all over the northern region.
Americans canÕt imagine putting their children in a hospital this dilapidated, but the workers maintain a cheerful atmosphere.
We hope someday to help Constantin and his team make repairs and improvements.
More adventures to come!
Thanks for journeying with us!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
