A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...
For Belarusian orphans ... a bright, beautiful
January Christmas!
Hear the phrase “orphans’ Christmas” and you may think Charles Dickens: a dark, dreary day.
But not this year, at the Children’s Village in Kobryn, Belarus!
It was a fabulous Christmas for the orphans living there!
(Christmas in this Orthodox culture happens on January 7th.)
A dear friend of New Thing funded lights, treats, and much more.
And all those who support New Thing faithfully every month enabled our “Response of the Heart” to facilitate the celebration.
There were games and activities...
Father Frost and the Snow Maiden, the traditional Christmas characters of Belarus, came to visit!
They performed, led songs and dances, dispensed goodies, and more.
And for the first time ever, the Children’s Village had a beautiful artificial Christmas tree that will delight generations.
(Click on the tree above to see 10 seconds of the lights twinkling on the orphans’ new tree!)
The orphans and their caregivers send their gratitude and love!
Thanks for journeying with New Thing. More adventures to come!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
