New Thing is your love in action, inside the former Soviet Union

Curious about where NewThing.net came from?

A report from Doug Brendel to all who support or follow New Thing in Belarus...

When you come home from college, and...

Someone’s sleeping in your bed!

It was so fun to deliver brand-new sleeper-sofas to the Children’s Village orphanage in Kobryn.

When an orphan comes home from college for a break or holiday, their childhood bed is already occupied by a newly arrived younger child.

Now the college student can “sleep on the couch” — but it will be a comfortable bed.

Friends of New Thing gave generously to provide for 8 of the 15 homes.

They’ve never had new sofas, since the Village was founded decades ago!

We started with the 8 homes where curved walls created a hazard for young children; the sofas were custom-designed to close the gap and keep the little ones safe.

\

Of course the children and families in the other 7 homes were hoping for new sleeper-sofas — they have college kids coming home too.

And now comes good news: We’ve been offered a terrific Matching Challenge.

If our New Thing family will donate a total of $7,000, a friend will donate the remaining $7,000 to cover the total $14,000 cost of all 7 sleeper-sofas.

So any gift given today will be matched dollar-for-dollar. The impact of your generosity will be doubled.

The littlest orphans in these 7 homes don’t understand all the strategic details. They just ask, “What about us?”

Soon, I hope we can answer, “You, too!”

Thanks for journeying with New Thing!

More adventures to come!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
